Prevention and Control of Flower Powdery Mildew
If you want to know about the explanation of the flower clinic, the prevention and control of flower powdery mildew, it will definitely bring you help. Let's learn about it together!
Recently, I have seen many flower friends' gardens with powdery mildew, and I am still庆幸 that there is no sign of it in my garden and the gardens of my friends. All the flowers are healthy. However, just yesterday, in the afternoon and evening, half of the flowers in the garden suddenly had powdery mildew!!! Including roses, shrubs, perennials, and aquatic plants, it doesn't matter the variety.
When we went to the garden early in the morning, ready to work hard, we were completely stunned. We always treated the flowers like our own children, taking care of them every day, but now, such a large-scale powdery mildew suddenly appeared, which made us very, very sad and nervous.
So we immediately drove back home, first looked for a gardening encyclopedia, which was very general and completely useless. Then we quickly found the phone numbers of Mr. Gao from the Rose Garden, Dr. Ding from the Breeding Base, and Mr. Liu from Dongsheng Garden, and called them one by one, asking carefully. Finally, we felt at ease, as it turned out that powdery mildew is not impossible to solve or prevent, and there are also many daily precautions. As long as these are taken care of, it should be fine.
Here are the suggestions from the three of them for everyone's reference:
1. The reasons for powdery mildew and how to improve and prevent it in watering methods.
The reasons are one, high temperature and humidity, and an even more important reason is, never water at night, especially sprinkling!!! This is the main reason why our garden has powdery mildew, because we always water at night and use the sprinkling method.
Both Mr. Gao and Dr. Ding mentioned this part. As soon as I said that there was a large-scale powdery mildew, they immediately asked if I watered at night. Because watering at night, especially sprinkling, the water on the leaves cannot dry and evaporate quickly at night, which causes too much humidity and easily leads to fungal problems like powdery mildew. The best time to water is at 7 or 8 in the morning, and no later than 9, so that the sunlight during the day can quickly evaporate the water on the leaves.
Moreover, for sauna weather, sprinkling is not a suitable method. The best way is to water directly at the roots or use seepage, so that the water does not get on the leaves. Both Mr. Gao and the Breeding Base use this method, which greatly avoids powdery mildew.
Spraying or watering plants is only suitable for supplementing moisture after strong winds in spring. In such sauna weather in Beijing, the humidity during the day is at least 70%, which is very unsuitable for spraying water on the leaves.
I remember a while ago I read a foreign gardening book, and there was a section about automatic irrigation systems, which specifically mentioned that it is best to use seepage pipes instead of micro-sprinkler pipes to avoid getting water on the leaves. At the time, I couldn't quite understand because I thought flowers would enjoy being sprayed with water. Now I finally understand. The humidity from the sauna weather has already made the plants uncomfortable, and spraying water, even in the morning, will only make them more uncomfortable.
2. Medication and frequency after powdery mildew occurs
According to the joint suggestions of the three: If it has already occurred, you can no longer use chlorothalonil alone because it is only suitable for prevention, not treatment. Multiucin is also not good, and its effect is even less than chlorothalonil.
The most suitable formula (recommended by all three) is as follows: After occurrence, the first spray: Triadimefon (also known as trisulphide copper, only domestic, not imported) + chlorothalonil (imported is better) mixed together, the concentration can be slightly higher. Four days later, spray with the same formula again. Continue this method for about 3 to 4 times. It should be basically cured.
3. Suitable spraying time
It is most suitable after dusk to avoid the hot sun quickly drying the water in the medicine, causing the medicine components to concentrate unevenly on the leaves, which can easily cause leaf burn. After spraying in the evening, watering in the morning can use a spray method to wash off the white medicine powder on the leaves. Don't worry about this affecting the efficacy because Dr. Ding said that keeping it for 4 hours is enough. According to the old man in the agricultural supplies store, after rinsing it, the medicine enters the soil and can be further absorbed by the plants.
4. Preventive spraying method
After spraying the treatment formula three to four times (about a month later), a new formula is needed. The old formula cannot be used continuously. The new formula can use chlorothalonil and methyltoproline mixed together, also for a month, about once a week. After a month, switch to another broad-spectrum drug. There are many options in agricultural supplies stores, both imported and domestic. Just keep switching every month until October 1st, when the weather cools down, and you can stop.
At night, we have applied the medicine to all the flowers according to this formula. Tomorrow morning, we won't be lazy and plan to get up at 7 to water. I will report back to everyone on the effect. I hope it can help flower friends with powdery mildew!
