How to Plant Grapes
Today, I will introduce to you how to plant grapes and the green plant flower planting content of grape planting methods and technical management. Next, the editor of this site will introduce it to everyone.
To plant grapevines, you need to choose a suitable garden plot to build a trellis, select a sunny area with slightly higher terrain, and choose soil that is loose and has good breathability. Place cement pillars as grape trellises according to the planting area. Master the row spacing and plant spacing during planting to enhance ventilation. Pay attention to the management of water and fertilizer, avoid excessive watering to prevent diseases in the garden, and increase the proportion of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers appropriately. Let's take a detailed look at garden establishment, planting, water and fertilizer management, and other matters together.
1. Garden Establishment and Planting
When planting grapes, choose a sunny area with higher terrain, and the soil should have good breathability. Sandy loam or other loose soils can be used. The soil pH should be between 6.3 and 7.3. You can use cement pillars about 2.5 meters long and 2.55 inches square as the trellis for the mature vines, buried 60 centimeters deep in the soil, with a spacing of 6 meters between pillars. When planting, choose grafted seedlings with many fibrous roots and complete root systems, adopt a planting density of 6 meters apart in rows and 1.5 meters apart in plants, which can improve ventilation and light exposure.
2. Water and Fertilizer Management
Watering can be done using a flooding method with a small water flow to avoid erosion. If the impact force of the water jet is too strong, you can divert it through ditches. Avoid excessive water each time to prevent overly moist soil conditions that can lead to disease. Dig holes around the roots for fertilization, using human manure or urea, apply fertilizers frequently but thinly, and water after each application to promote nutrient absorption by the plants.
3. Building Trellises
Trellises should be completed before grapes enter the growing period. The trellis must be sturdy enough to withstand strong winds. Place a支柱 at equal intervals along the row, with a height of 1.5 meters, and the trellis surface should be perpendicular to the ground. When the new shoots are about 50 centimeters long, start training the vines onto the trellis. Water the vines once every half month after they are on the trellis.
4. Shaping and Pruning
In spring, remove poor-growing and late-emerging buds to allow nutrients to be concentrated in healthy buds. During the growing season, cut off dense, elongated, and weak branches to prevent nutrient waste and ensure healthy grape growth. During the flowering period, remove weaker inflorescences to prevent them from competing with other inflorescences for nutrients.
5. Other Matters
After planting, the seedlings can be covered with dark-colored plastic film to absorb light and increase soil temperature, accelerating seedling growth. It is best to disinfect the grape seedlings before planting.
