Faucaria smithii belongs to the Aizoaceae family, specifically the Faucaria genus, native to the limestone regions of the Great Karoo Plateau in South Africa. It thrives in warm, dry conditions with ample sunlight, is not cold-tolerant, and can endure partial shade and drought. It dislikes excessive moisture and intense sunlight exposure, with a slight dormancy in summer. The plant grows densely, is very succulent, with leaves十字交互对生 (cross-interactive and opposite), base united, triangular tips, hard-capped epidermis on the edges and ridges of the leaves, most leaf surfaces have meaty teeth, and there are coarse fibrous bristles on the leaf edges. The flowers are large, stalkless, and primarily yellow.

Insufficient sunlight results in green leaves and a loose arrangement, causing the leaves to stretch. The plant can be repotted every two to four years depending on its growth state, with the pot diameter slightly larger than the plant diameter to promote growth. The medium must be dry before watering, and a slow-release fertilizer can be applied. Propagation is done through seeding, cutting the top, or taking side buds for cutting, with cross-pollination. The leaves of the King Kong Plant 'Faucaria Smithii' are very large, and when grouped together, they are truly spectacular.
