What to Do When the Money Tree Leaves Become Wilted
The Money Tree is a common household green plant, and its drooping leaves often leave plant lovers at a loss. This phenomenon usually indicates that there are oversights in the care process, which may be due to improper watering, unsuitable environment, or nutritional imbalance. Master the following 5 core emergency measures to revitalize your Money Tree.
I. Scientifically Adjust the Watering System
1.1 Optimize Watering Frequency
Root rot is the primary cause of leaf wilt. When the potting soil remains moist for a long time, the fine roots can suffocate due to lack of oxygen. It is recommended to water once every 10-15 days in spring and autumn, and extend to 20-30 days in winter. Use a bamboo stick to test the moisture level of the potting soil, and water when there is no sticky soil when pulled out.
1.2 Upgrade the Drainage System
If root rot is detected, immediately remove the plant from the pot: cut off the black, soft-rotted roots, and retain the lignified main roots with a diameter > 2mm. Use a breathable matrix of ceramsite + perlite + pine bark (3:3:4), and place a 3cm thick layer of broken tiles at the bottom of the pot to enhance drainage.
II. Intelligently Adjust Temperature and Humidity
2.1 Summer shading plan
When the temperature is > 32°C, move the plant to a north-facing balcony. Use a shading net to maintain a light intensity of 5000-8000 lux. Use a mist喷壶 to moisten the leaves in the morning and evening, avoiding the high-temperature noon.
2.2 Winter Heating Measures
Low temperatures < 10°C can cause chilling injury wilt. It is recommended to use double-layer insulation: wrap the inner layer with non-woven fabric and cover the outer layer with plastic film (leave ventilation holes), combined with foam box padding to keep the pot warm.
III. Build a Ventilated Ecosystem
Enclosed environments can easily breed (T-J) bacteria. It is recommended to open windows for ventilation 2-3 hours a day. Implement the "three-cut method" on dense branches: ① cut off inner branches ② thin parallel branches ③ shorten the branches that grow excessively, maintaining a canopy light transmission rate > 40%.
IV. Precise Fertilization Management
In the growing season (April-September), use slow-release fertilizer with N-P-K = 15-5-10, 20-30 granules per pot. For fertilizer burn emergency, rinse the roots with running water for 2 hours, change the soil, and stop fertilizing for 60 days. It is recommended to use an EC value pen to maintain soil conductivity at 1.2-1.8 mS/cm.
By systematically adjusting the four elements of water, fertilizer, light, and temperature, and combining regular observation of leaf firmness, more than 95% of wilted symptoms can be improved within 2-3 weeks. Remember to clean the leaf stomata with an alcohol cotton pad monthly, so your Money Tree can continue to maintain a robust and upright posture.
