Caring for star anise requires about 3 to 5 hours of scattered light per day for its branches and leaves to grow well. It is afraid of intense sunlight and does not need too much direct sunlight. To propagate star anise, it is generally done by stem cutting. If the plant at home grows tall, the top branches can be cut. It is usually done from April to June. Comparing the star anise grown indoors with the one grown outdoors, you will find that the leaves of the indoor star anise become smaller and the plant becomes very dainty, which is caused by insufficient lighting. Insufficient sunlight can lead to smaller leaves and a more delicate appearance.
