Blue Snowflake Plant Introduction

The Blue Snowflake, also known as Blue Flower丹, Blue Snow丹, Blue Flower Rockrose, and Blue Jasmine, is a perennial evergreen shrub of the Plumbaginaceae family, Plumbago genus, native to South Africa. When planted in the ground, the plant can grow to a height of 1-2 meters, while in a pot it reaches 35-50 cm. The branches are upright in the seedling stage and later become pendulous. The leaves are simple, alternate, thin, and entire. The spike-shaped inflorescence is terminal or axillary, with a high-footed saucer-shaped corolla, light blue or white flowers, blooming from June to September, and producing a capsule fruit. Blue Snowflake prefers warm temperatures, is heat-tolerant, enjoys sunlight, slightly shade-tolerant, and moderately drought-resistant. There are 85 seeds per gram. It can be propagated by sowing, cutting, or division. Cuttings are usually done in May to June, with the optimal temperature for root growth being 20°C to 25°C, and roots form in about 20 to 28 days after cutting.
