Cactus (Sphere) Tsukahara Haiou Plant Introduction

Tsukahara Haiou is a cultivated variety of the Tsukahara family in Japan, which is very classic and beautiful. Tsukahara Haiou is spherical or oblate. It has 5-7 ridges, with deep transverse grooves between the areoles, varying lengths of spines that are very curly, twisted, and rough. The cultivation of Tsukahara Haiou focuses on the curliness and roughness of the spines. Tsukahara Haiou enjoys sunlight, with flowers born at the top, the receptacle covered with large scales but without hair or spines. The flowers of Tsukahara Haiou are white with faint green dots. When flowering, at least half of the plant's spherical body should be exposed to strong sunlight for a day to make it easier for the buds to bloom. Since Tsukahara Haiou is a horticultural variety, it does not flower as much as the common Haiou. It is difficult to make it bloom if not properly cared for, and insufficient sunlight can cause the buds to wither without opening.
