Cactus (Ball) World Map Plant Introduction

The World Map is a variegated variety of the short-haired ball, with plants initially spherical and becoming cylindrical as they grow, easily forming clusters. The plant is 10-12 cm tall and 10-15 cm in diameter, with the stem having 11-12 straight ridges, green镶嵌with yellow patches, some almost entirely bright yellow except for the ridges or growth points, which are green. There are light brown conical short spines on the areoles. The flowers are lateral, funnel-shaped, white, 17-25 cm long, and bloom in the evening during summer. Its original species, the short-haired ball, thrives in a sunny and relatively humid environment with weeds for shade in summer and frost at night in winter, with fertile red-black soil. Therefore, in cultivation, it prefers sunlight, is tolerant of water and fertilizer, and can survive outdoors in winter unless it is extremely cold. It is extremely suitable for home cultivation in courtyards or balconies. The short-haired ball has a robust nature and is commonly known as "Grass Ball" in folk, implying that its cultivation and propagation are not difficult. A mixture of moderately fertile garden soil and one-third coarse sand can be used as the growing medium. It can be placed outdoors in spring and autumn to be exposed to sunlight and rain, with shade provided in summer and moved under the eaves in winter to avoid frost and rain. No watering is needed throughout the winter. To promote abundant flowering, fertilize twice in spring and autumn. The optimal growing temperature for the World Map is 18-27 degrees Celsius, with the winter temperature not lower than 5 degrees Celsius. It should be placed in a well-ventilated and sunny location, but care should be taken to provide shade protection from strong sunlight to prevent burns. Other cultivation methods can refer to those of the short-haired ball.
