Heavenly Horse Air
Compared with the introduction of most people to the succulent plant Heavenly Horse Air, here is a detailed introduction to the basic care of Pachypodium succulentum.
Pachypodium succulentum——Apocynaceae, Pachypodium genus, native to the eastern part of the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. In the native land, most of it is buried underground, and the epidermis of the aboveground part is yellowish-brown and very rough. The branched stems are 20-60 cm high, with thin branches and 2 cm long opposite spines. The leaves are linear-lanceolate, green, 5-6 cm long and 1 cm wide, with hair. Flowers bloom on new branches, small, pink, rarely white.
Heavenly Horse Air is one of the representative species of stem succulents, with a swollen stem base shaped like an ancient and artistic vase, very unique. It can be cultivated in botanical gardens and by some enthusiasts. It is best to maintain a temperature of above 10℃ and keep the potting soil dry during winter dormancy.
Spring to autumn is the growing period, flowering at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, but the water consumption during the growing period is still not much, so it can only be watered occasionally.
The culture soil should be fertile and well-drained, and some decomposed dry cow dung or bone meal can be placed at the bottom to promote flowering. It is best to propagate by sowing, and it can also be propagated by cutting branches, but the stem does not swell after survival.
The above introduction to the basic care methods of Pachypodium succulentum is for reference and suggestion.
