Jili Xiang is also known as: Shi Chilies, Jiu Qiu Xiang, Jiu Shu Xiang, Qi Li Xiang, Qian Li Xiang, Wan Li Xiang, Guo Shan Xiang, Huang Jin Gui, Shan Huang Pi, Qian Zhi Yan, Yue Ju. It belongs to the evergreen shrub, sometimes growing into a small tree. The plant has an elegant posture, beautiful branches and leaves, and fragrant flowers. The young branches are cylindrical, 1-5mm in diameter, with a gray-brown surface and longitudinal wrinkles. The flowering period is from July to October. The berries are nearly spherical, fleshy, and red, maturing from October to the following February. The fruits have a fragrant aroma, a bitter and pungent taste, with a tingling sensation on the tongue. One of the distinguishing features: its fruits have a sticky liquid.
