Sediem emarginatum is a perennial creeping fleshy herb. It grows 10—17 cm tall. The leaves have a rounded tip with a depression; the branches and leaves are dense like a carpet, the flowers are small, yellow, and grow at the top of the flowering branches. It blooms from April to May and fruits from June to July. When overwintering outdoors, some leaves turn purple-red, making it suitable for closed-type ground cover material. The whole plant is used medicinally for clearing heat, detoxifying, diuretic, and calming the liver, treating dysentery, boils, traumatic injuries, etc.; it is used in Zhejiang folk medicine to treat hepatitis.
