(1) Ceroplastes. The nymphs and adults of this pest gather on leaves and branches to absorb the sap of the flowers, causing the trees to weaken and affecting the photosynthesis of the flowers, thereby increasing the severity of the damage.
Control methods: ① Combine pruning to cut off the infested branches and burn them together to reduce the overwintering population. ② Use bamboo slices to scrape off or use burlap to wipe off the pests. ③ During the nymph stage, spray with 25% diaminothiourea emulsion 1000 times or 49% dimethoate emulsion 1000 times or 80% dichlorvos emulsion 1000 times, once every 7 days.
(2) Apple Aphid. This pest gathers on the back of leaves and tender shoots to harm the flowers. Initially, the edges of the leaves curl downward, and later, they bend and curl from the tip to the petiole, affecting the growth of new shoots and the differentiation of flower buds.
Control methods: ① Before the plants sprout, spray 5 degrees of lime sulfur solution to kill overwintering eggs. ② During the period of aphid damage, spray 50% parathion emulsion 2000 times or 50% carbaryl wettable powder 800 times.
(3) Red Spider. Red spider, also known as leaf mite, commonly absorbs nutrients from both sides of the leaves of the flower plant, causing the leaves to wither and fall off, affecting the growth of the entire plant.
Control methods: ① During winter, carefully remove weeds and diseased plants and leaves and burn them. ② Use a dilute solution of 300 times the wettable powder prepared by mixing 6% trichlorfon and 6% trichlorfon to spray and kill.
