Gardenia hydroponic cutting

Are you curious about the experience of hydroponically growing Gardenia? For Gardenia hydroponic cutting, please refer to the detailed introduction below.

Gardenia hydroponic cutting is a common method for propagating Gardenias. This article describes the entire process from starting the hydroponic cutting, sprouting small roots, further root growth, root system development, to potting. This is very valuable for novice plant enthusiasts to reference and learn from.

1. Start hydroponic cutting

Cut an appropriate branch and place it in a hydroponic container. The branch cut is from a two-year-old plant, and now is also the time for pruning (around August). Soak the cut branch in oil-free clean water (tap water or purified water), adding nothing else. In such hot weather, carefully observe the condition of the water. If the water becomes turbid, change it immediately and wait for the small roots to sprout.

2. It takes about a week for small roots to sprout. You can see white spots on the branches in the water, which indicates root growth.

3. For further growth, the root system needs to develop. Feel for the roots after they have grown to about one inch long before potting.

4. Prepare for potting. Get a small clay pot and raw soil (the lower layer of garden soil), as this soil is free of pests and bacteria. Then, crush the soil and put it in the pot. Make sure the soil in the pot forms a "mushroom" shape, allowing the small roots to hang naturally to avoid breaking them.

5. After potting, water the rooted branches thoroughly, and place them in a shady place for 2-3 days or 3-4 days, then move them outside for care.

6. Regular maintenance. After moving outside, expose them to the sun regularly and wait for them to bloom. Note: frequently water with iron sulfate solution to make the Gardenia leaves greener and more glossy; frequently water with fermented rice water to promote healthy growth, more blooms, longer blooming period, and fragrant flowers.

The above is just personal opinion for reference. Wishing you success in cutting!
