Is it better to hydroponically or soil-cultivate tulips?
The web introduces whether it is better to hydroponically or soil-cultivate tulips and provides a detailed introduction to the related aspects of green plant flowers, such as the hydroponic cultivation method of tulip bulbs. Please see the detailed introduction below.
If we talk about hydroponic hyacinths or narcissus, they are very common. Have you ever tried to care for tulips using hydroponics? In fact, as long as you buy plump tulip bulbs, you can cultivate them using hydroponics, and it's easy for them to grow leaves and bloom.

1. Hybrid varieties and original varieties:

The tulip bulbs available in the market today are generally hybrid varieties, which basically can't bloom again after flowering once, and have poor reblooming ability (even if they rebloom, the flowers in the second or third year are prone to mutations). Therefore, it usually becomes an annual bulbous plant to buy tulip bulbs every year. Commercially cultivated tulips rely on "tissue culture" for reblooming.

If you want to plant tulip varieties with good reblooming ability, you must choose "original tulips," which are wild species of tulips. Of course, you also need a suitable climate. In the south, if you want tulips to rebloom, you can only artificially intervene in dormancy (put in the refrigerator).
Is it better to hydroponically or soil-cultivate tulips?
This kind of original tulips, if planted in potting soil, will rebloom after the flowers have faded, and after 1 to 3 years, they will bloom again. Most of these tulip plants are relatively small, with long and slender shapes, and their flower colors are not particularly bright.
2. Tulip bulb vernalization
No matter what variety of tulip, it needs to go through a period of low-temperature dormancy before it can bloom. Therefore, when buying tulip bulbs, you should ask the seller whether they have been through cold storage treatment. If they are 5-degree bulbs, they have been through low-temperature treatment and can be hydroponically or soil-cultivated at home to bloom. If you buy natural tulip bulbs, they have not been treated and need to go through vernalization before they can bloom.
If you buy tulip bulbs that have not gone through vernalization, you can put them in a paper bag or wrap them with old newspapers and place them in the refrigerator (away from ripe fruit), maintaining a temperature of around 5 to 8 degrees, and keep them refrigerated for 1 to 2 months. Then take them out again at a temperature of 4 to 9 degrees. Occasionally check if they have germinated. If they have, plant them immediately.
3. Method of hydroponically cultivating tulips
The method of hydroponically caring for tulip bulbs is similar to that of narcissus bulbs, both involving placing their bulbs in a container with clean water, allowing the bottom of the tulip bulbs to soak in water (shallow water), and placing them in a shaded area to grow roots. As long as the environment is warm, you can start hydroponically cultivating tulips.
