Narcissus Cultivation Methods and Techniques

For related experience on Narcissus cultivation methods, techniques, and a complete care guide for flower planting, read on!

Narcissus is very popular in the market, and it is especially fragrant after blooming. There are mainly two cultivation methods we will introduce: hydroponics and soil cultivation. Both methods require the bulbs to be soaked in a carbendazim solution. For hydroponics, the water should be changed daily, gradually moving to every two to three days. Soil cultivation needs to wait for the carbendazim solution on the bulb epidermis to dry before planting in the soil.

I. Hydroponics

1. Bulb Preparation

Remove the dried parts and mold spots from the bulb epidermis, as well as the dried and rotting roots at the bottom. Mix carbendazim with water in a container, then soak the prepared bulbs for two hours.

2. Begin Hydroponics

Afterward, place the bulbs in a hydroponic pot, add a few drops of root growth liquid to the water, and place the pot in a well-lit area. At night, empty the water and replenish it in the morning.

3. Control Excessive Growth

If the Narcissus leaves grow too tall, apply a矮壮素 (dwarfing agent) when the buds first appear. Mix the agent with water to prevent excessive growth.

4. Maintenance

When first change the water daily, then every two to three days. After the bud forms, replenish water weekly. Hydroponic Narcissus doesn't require fertilizer; with proper light and temperature, it can bloom normally. After about 45 days, the Narcissus will bloom.

II. Soil Cultivation

1. Bulb Preparation

Prune the bulb epidermis and roots before soil cultivation, and soak them in a carbendazim solution. Afterward, remove the bulbs for use.

2. Begin Soil Cultivation

Once the bulb epidermis is dry, plant it directly into the soil. Do not cover the bud with too much soil.

3. Maintenance

After planting, water sufficiently. Add a few drops of root growth liquid and carbendazim when watering, then place the pot in the sun. When the soil is half-dry, water thoroughly and add a dwarfing agent before flowering, applying liquid fertilizer twice. Narcissus thrives in sunlight and requires a temperature range of 4 to 12 degrees Celsius.
