How to plant narcissus
The web tells everyone about how to plant narcissus and the small knowledge of planting narcissus, and next [] the editor will introduce it.
Narcissus is usually planted in winter, and you can buy bulbs to cultivate, or buy potted seedlings after the spring warming, of course, it is best to buy bulbs that have already germinated, which are cheap and have a higher success rate of planting.
1. Several benefits of growing narcissus
There is a big difference between narcissus and Chinese narcissus. Narcissus has one flower per stem, while Chinese narcissus has multiple flowers per stem.
The flowers of narcissus have no fragrance, but the advantage is that the flowers are very large, with rich colors, and there are various single-petal and double-petal varieties to choose from, with more than 50 different varieties available online.
One special feature that makes many people love narcissus is its good reblooming ability. Planting in winter this year can bloom in spring, and as long as it is properly maintained, it can rebloom the following year. However, the Chinese narcissus bought in the market usually gets thrown away after blooming once, as it has very poor reblooming ability.
2. Planting bulbs in the first year
When buying narcissus, choose bulbs that are plump and large, and it's best to buy from reputable sellers.
Narcissus bulbs are usually planted in winter. Planting bulbs in the first year, it is fine to plant around the Spring Festival because the narcissus bulbs we buy are usually 5-degree bulbs, which means they have already undergone vernalization. Plant them directly in the potting soil at home, and after a period of care, they can grow leaves and bloom, which is very convenient. As long as the weather is not hot yet, narcissus can bloom normally.
Narcissus definitely needs vernalization to bloom, and a 5-degree bulb means it has been placed in a 5-degree environment for a long time. Planting it at home directly can make it bloom. To make it bloom again in the second year, it needs a low-temperature environment of 5-10 degrees Celsius in winter, and it needs to be maintained for more than 30 days to help it develop flowers.
3. Potting soil and fertilizer combination
Planting narcissus is fine before the weather gets hot. The soil for planting narcissus must be loose and breathable. You can use common peat soil mixed with perlite in a 3:1 ratio; you can also use decomposed leaf soil mixed with coarse sand in a 3:1 ratio.
When planting narcissus bulbs, you can add some decomposed sheep manure fertilizer to the pot or sprinkle some slow-release fertilizer on the soil surface. Slow-release fertilizer can also be mixed into the soil. You can use some slow-release fertilizers with high phosphorus and potassium content, such as Ogreen A2.
After buying the narcissus bulbs, they should be planted promptly. Pay attention to keep the bud eyes upwards, water thoroughly after planting, and keep them in a well-ventilated and sunny place. Gradually expose them to light when the small buds come out, and provide more light in the later stage, with at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day to ensure better blooming.
If you can let the narcissus grow outdoors, especially in an environment where it can be exposed to the sun from morning to evening, it will be particularly good for the narcissus.
4. Don't randomly cut the leaves after flowering
If you want the narcissus to bloom again in the second year, do not cut its leaves after flowering, as the leaves are an important means of photosynthesis and nutrient absorption.
After flowering, just remove the flowers and leave the leaves to continue photosynthesis and absorb nutrients.
5. Watering skills
In a sunny environment, water the narcissus when the topsoil is dry. Do not let the soil get too wet or waterlogged, and do not let the potting soil get too dry.
