Black-eyed Susan Plant Properties
Chinese Name Black-eyed Susan Alias Latin Name Rudbeckia hirta Family Asteraceae Genus Rudbeckia Origin Distribution Eastern United StatesBlack-eyed Susan Plant Introduction
Black-eyed Susan is an annual or biennial plant, with a height of 60-100 cm; it prefers sunny and well-ventilated growing conditions, is cold and drought resistant, and not particular about soil. The management is relatively relaxed. It is mostly planted in the ground and is suitable for sandy loam soil. It is not strict about water and fertilizer requirements. When the plant grows well, it can be supplemented with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers to make the flowers more beautiful. The plant requires ample sunlight during growth. Especially for cut flower plants, the pinching method can be used to extend the blooming period. For perennial plants, forced division is necessary, otherwise, it will weaken the growth and affect flowering. From summer to autumn, it can be planted in clusters, for road greening, flower beds, and borders of grasslands. It can self-seed and overwinter outdoors.
