Why don't Milan flower buds bloom? Four tips to solve the Milan cultivation dilemma.

Milan has flower buds, why don't they bloom?

Milan flowers are famous for their emerald green leaves and elegant fragrance, but many flower lovers find during the maintenance process that they have clearly grown full buds, but they have not yet waited for the moment to bloom. Behind this phenomenon of "only pregnant buds but not blooming" lies Milan's unique biological characteristics and maintenance points. 1. Decoding the special physiological structure of Milanese flowers 1.1 Micro flower characteristics As an evergreen shrub of the genus Melia, the flowers of Aglaia odorata are only 2-3 mm in diameter, and its panicle consists of dozens of micro flowers. The golden little flowers look like grains of rice, which is the origin of the name "Milan". This microscopic structure causes flowers to only crack open when they open, requiring close observation to discover the blooming characteristics. 1.2 The unique blooming mechanism is different from common ornamental flowers. Milan flower buds take 15-20 days to expand to fully open. The calyx lobes are only 1/3 spread out, exposing the internal stamens and pistils. This half-open and half-closed blooming method not only protects reproductive organs, but also continuously releases aromatic substances to attract pollinating insects. 2. Four elements of environmental control 2.1 Light management needs to ensure 4-6 hours of scattered light every day, and 30% shade needs to be covered at noon in summer. Insufficient light will hinder the differentiation of flower buds, while direct light will easily cause the flower buds to dry and fall off. 2.2 The optimal growth temperature for temperature and humidity control is 18-28℃, and needs to be kept above 10℃ in winter. The air humidity should be maintained at 60-70%, and the humidity can be increased by using trays to wet pebbles. 2.3 Scientific water and fertilizer management keeps the soil moist (water content 40%) in spring and autumn, and irrigates it once in the morning and evening in summer. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate (diluted 1000 times) is applied every half month during flower bud differentiation period to avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer causing excessive growth. 2.4 Trim skills Cut off residual flowers in time after flowers and keep 2-3 pairs of leaves. Plastic pruning is carried out every spring to remove dense branches to keep the plants ventilated and transparent. 3. Solution to abnormal flower bud shedding When the flower bud blackens and shedding occurs, the root condition needs to be checked immediately. If roots rot due to stagnant water, remove the pot and prune the rotten roots, disinfect them with carbendazim, replace them with new soil and plant them again. The falling buds caused by a sudden drop in temperature can be saved by covering plastic bags to keep them warm and gradually increasing the environmental temperature.

By mastering Milan's growth habits and accurately controlling maintenance conditions, we can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of "golden millet dotted with branches", but also make the elegant fragrance last for several months. It is recommended that flower lovers regularly use a magnifying glass to observe the status of flower buds, record growth logs, and gradually establish personalized maintenance plans.
