When do white magnolia flowers bloom?

Are you wondering in which month white magnolia flowers bloom and the small knowledge of growing flowers to make them bloom, the specific contents are as follows:

How long do orchids bloom?

Friends have complained to me: orchids are indeed beautiful and fragrant, but they are not only difficult to grow, their blooming period is too short, they all wither within a week.

Is the blooming period of orchids really that short? Actually, speaking of most flower varieties, orchids have a relatively long blooming period. Other flowers generally wither in about a week, while the longest blooming period of orchids can reach more than a month. Especially in the wild, the long blooming period of orchids follows its natural laws.

As the saying goes, a woman dresses to please the one she loves. But humans should not be too self-absorbed; the fragrance of orchids is never to please people, and their beauty and fragrance are not for humans.

Actually, all plant flowers are the same; there is no flower that is born to serve humans. They bloom, emit fragrance, and show off their colors to attract insects that can help with pollination, not for people to smell them.

When wild orchids bloom, most insects are not yet active, so the success rate of pollination is lower than in the season of blooming flowers. If their blooming period was like other flowers, withering in a week, it would be too late for effective pollination, which would greatly threaten the survival of the species. Every year, I search for wild orchids in the mountains and find that if it's not affected by insects or rodents, the blooming period of wild orchids is generally about a month.

I have encountered orchids with very short blooming periods several times, mostly due to environmental issues. Twice it was during the normal blooming season, and once it was an off-season blooming of a China cinnamon orchid.

Direct causes of the blooming period of orchids

China cinnamon orchids usually bloom in April, which is normal. But this year, I have three pots of off-season China cinnamon orchids that bloomed in July (Figure 1). Although they did not undergo vernalization, the blooms were not bad, just a few less flowers than the regular China cinnamon orchids, with only 7 flowers on a stem, and the fragrance was good. However, the blooming period of China cinnamon orchids in the summer is also not long. I always keep them on the corridor, getting only one hour of sunlight in the morning and very good ventilation. According to the theory, it meets their blooming environment needs, but the blooming period is still short, and all three pots of China cinnamon orchids have the same blooming period, with flowers dropping after 10 days.

White magnolia flowers bloom in which month?

There were also two instances with spring orchids and China cinnamon orchids. The first time was several years ago when I was not yet aware of the growing environment for orchids, thinking that they could be placed anywhere. Before a pot of China cinnamon orchid was about to bloom, I moved it to the study inside the house to enhance the atmosphere. It was warm under the south window, and it could still get sunlight through the glass, thinking that it was a very good environment. However, within a week, all the flower buds of the China cinnamon orchid fell to the ground, while the other China cinnamon orchids that had not been moved were blooming happily. This was caused by poor ventilation leading to early senescence of the flowers.

The second time was last winter (it should be considered January 2019), when a large pot of spring orchid buds were about to split open. Because it was nearing the Spring Festival, I moved this pot of orchid from the greenhouse to my home and placed it on a flower stand in the living room. The living room was open-concept, and rural living rooms in the Jiangnan region are rarely enclosed because the stairs to the upper and lower floors are also in the living room, so the ventilation was excellent. The location of the flower stand could not get sunlight, so during the day, I would move the orchid outside to bask in the sun, almost all day, then move it back inside in the evening. This pot of orchid bloomed for nearly 40 days, and even when I finally cut it, there was still a hint of fragrance.

Now I know that the main factors affecting the blooming duration of orchids are ventilation and temperature. And ventilation is not only important during the blooming period but at any stage of growing orchids. It's just that the importance of ventilation is more evident during the blooming season. Especially the environment of basking in the sun through glass is a big no-no for growing orchids, orchid enthusiasts must be careful! Because it causes闷晒, not only will it make the flowers senesce early, but it will also directly affect the growth of the orchid plants.

Additionally, the temperature during blooming also directly relates to the duration of the blooming period. When the temperature is very high and the temperature difference is small, the blooming period of orchids will also be shorter. About this, I have also made comparisons between orchids inside and outside the greenhouse in spring, and the conclusions are in line with this.
