Ground cover is a deciduous vine plant with alternate leaves, long petioles, light green flowers, and produces berries and bulbous stems. It has tendrils that can attach to rocks or walls. The flowering period is June to July, and the fruiting period is September. Its roots and stems can be used as medicine, with the effects of breaking blood stasis, activating tendons and stopping bleeding, and reducing swelling and toxicity. The fruit can be used to make wine. It prefers a shady and humid environment, is not afraid of strong sunlight, and is cold-resistant, drought-resistant, and can tolerate poor soil and pruning.
