The Baiyan Vine is a climbing shrub; the top of the young branches is covered with short coarse hair, the leaves are opposite, the leaf blades are obovate-elliptical, rarely elliptical, and narrowly elliptical in shape; the small capitulum inflorescence forms an umbel-like terminal inflorescence, the corolla is white or greenish-white; the aggregate fruit is flat spherical and red when ripe. Flowering period is in summer. The whole plant is used for medicine. It can be harvested throughout the year, fresh or dried. It has the effects of clearing heat and promoting diuresis, resolving phlegm and stopping cough, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain. It is commonly used for colds, coughs, bronchitis, pertussis, diarrhea, sprains, lumbar muscle strain, and eczema.
