Narcissus Planting Tutorial
This article introduces the knowledge about the bulbous flower Narcissus, Narcissus planting tutorial. Let's take a look together.
Planting Narcissus is much simpler than planting Hyacinthus. First, let me show you my bulbs, which I bought in a group purchase. The size and variety are the same for everyone, but I also bought 5 'whispers' separately. Some students find it strange, why are there 5 in such a large plate! Yes, those small bulbs are additional, and only the large bulbs count as one!
1. Handling the bulbs.
The epidermis of Narcissus bulbs is very dry and easy to peel off. Compared to Hyacinthus, there is much less mold, and it is not prone to mold during growth. I have disinfectant on hand, but I didn't use anything, not even peeling the outer skin, the only operation was to pull off the old roots.
When the outer skin of this bulb naturally fell off, a little mold was seen, and I didn't intend to disinfect it. I just wiped it with a tissue. After wiping, the bulb is still bright and new, and the mold has not eroded into the inside.
If you have disinfectant on hand, you can also soak it for disinfection appropriately, the same operation process as Hyacinthus, but the soaking time should not be too long, preferably within 20 minutes!
2. Potting soil preparation
Since Narcissus reblooms easily, I don't plan to use hydroponics to waste bulbs, all soil cultivation. This is the pot I prepared for 'whispers', not big, just enough for three. You can skip the step of sifting soil, I did it because these potting soils have been planted with other plants and I need to pick out the clumpy soil and the roots of other plants.
Flower friends with conditions can place a layer of small stones at the bottom of the pot before filling the soil because this type of plant is most afraid of waterlogging. Placing small stones facilitates drainage. If you don't have enough small stones, just block the bottom hole, that's OK. Another method is to place larger particle planting materials at the bottom layer. I used pine bark and orchid soil,总之 is chunky and large particles.
The planting process is the same as that of Hyacinthus, first put half a pot of soil, then place the bulbs and fill the soil. After filling, gently shake the whole pot to let the planting material fill in the gaps.
Note, the best practice is to bury the bulbs completely in the soil. The reason why some of mine are exposed is purely because the condition of the flowerpot is not good!
This is what it looks like after I plant it, because the large pots are all occupied by other plants, I can only use small pots.
