Skill for dealing with the root rot of Clivia Miniata, treatment method for Clivia Miniata's rotten core

How to deal with the rotten roots of Clivia

Clivia has straight leaves and beautiful colors. It is a popular indoor leaf-viewing plant. However, during the maintenance process, rotten roots and rotten hearts are the two most common problems. This article uses 6 major steps to teach you how to systematically deal with plant disease problems and restore your Clivia to life. 1. The whole process of treating rotten roots of Clivia 1.1 When the leaves are yellow and the soil in the pot continues to be moist in the emergency pot removal operation, watering needs to be stopped immediately. Use a gardening shovel to loosen the soil along the wall of the pot, hold the false bulb and gently pull out the plant. Pay attention to retaining the protective soil around the main root to avoid secondary damage. 1.2 Root pruning and disinfection After rinsing the roots with running water, use alcohol-disinfected scissors to cut off the black, soft rotten roots. Keep healthy white roots with a diameter of 2mm or more. Apply carbendazim powder to the wound and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 4-6 hours. 1.3 The key points for pot change and maintenance are to choose a breathable pottery pot, and the substrate is prepared according to pine needle soil: river sand: charcoal =5:3:2. When planting, let the root system unfold in an umbrella-shaped shape, and the false bulbs are exposed 1 cm above the soil surface. In the first 3 weeks, water was replenished by dipping basin method, and rooting powder solution was added once a month. 2. Treatment plan for rotten heart of Clivia 2.1 Treatment of mild rotten heart When water-stained spots appear on the core leaves, use tweezers to remove rotten tissue. Use a medical cotton swab to absorb exudate and apply violet solution to the wound. Keep the environmental humidity ≤60%, and suspend foliar water spraying for 2 weeks. 2.2 Rescue of severe rotten heart When the growth site completely rots, 1 cm of the top of the false bulb needs to be removed. Soak in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 20 minutes, and use pure water moss to root. Maintain a constant temperature environment of 25℃ and replace the hair root medium every 3 days. 3. Daily maintenance and disease prevention guidelines Control the watering frequency (7 days per time in spring and autumn, 15 days per time in winter), and use a thermometer to monitor the humidity of the basin soil. Fertilization follows the principle of "thin fertilizer and frequent application", and special orchid fertilizer diluted 1000 times is applied every month during the growth period. Keep the temperature difference between day and night at 8-10℃, and 60% of the light needs to be shaded in summer.

Through the above-mentioned systematic treatment plan and scientific maintenance and management, more than 90% of the diseased Clivia can be restored to health. It is recommended to check the root condition every quarter. Prevention in advance is better than treatment in the later stage.
