Introduction to Lonicera confusa Plant

Lonicera confusa is a semi-evergreen vine plant. Young branches, petioles, peduncles, bracts, bracteoles, and calyx tubes are densely covered with grayish-yellow curled pubescence and sparsely pubescent with minute glandular hairs; young branches are light reddish-brown or nearly brown. Flowers are fragrant, doubly axillary or terminal on young branches or lateral short branches, with white corollas that later turn yellow; fruits are black, elliptical or suborbicular. Flowering period is April-May, sometimes a second flowering occurs in September-October, and fruit maturity is in October. The flowers are edible; tender stems and leaves, as well as new buds, can be boiled and stir-fried or seasoned for consumption; mature stems and leaves can be cut and dried in the sun to be used as tea. This flower is used in medicine for its heat-clearing and detoxifying effects. The vines and leaves are also used in medicine.
