Flower friends talk about the experience of planting roses

The web provides everyone with knowledge about roses, the experience of flower friends in planting roses, if there are any mistakes, please correct them! Rose flowers like fertilizer and sunlight, and they can tolerate a lot of fertilizer. The main fertilizer I use is the dregs left from making soy milk, fermented and diluted with water, with a dilution ratio of 20% fertilizer juice and 80% water. I fertilize once a week starting from spring, and when the flower buds appear, I soak some calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer in the fertilizer water. I fertilize first when the pot soil is dry, and then water the next day. All roses can bloom into large flowers.

Repotting is usually done every two years, but the pot with many flowers has not been repotted because the roots have grown out and have been repotted many times, only fertilizing more frequently.

Experience in preventing rose diseases: every spring, whether there is a disease or not, I use agricultural streptomycin mixed with another fungicide to spray and prevent black mold disease in roses. Roses are very susceptible to this disease, and treating it after getting sick will affect blooming. Therefore, prevention is the main strategy.

In the past, I have also used fermented fish innards as fertilizer because I heard that roses like荤 (meat-based) fertilizers. Practice has proven that this method is not very good, and it has a strong smell, less effective than soybean dregs. The fermented soybean dregs are composted in a covered paint bucket, with a faucet installed 15 centimeters above the ground. When composting the soybean dregs, I put the leftover tea I drink into it because I like to drink Oolong tea, so there is a lot of tea, which helps to reduce the smell. With a large dilution ratio, the smell is minimal.

Last year, one of my rose pots could bloom even in winter on a balcony without air conditioning. In Shanghai, the indoor temperature in winter is only 5 degrees, so it is not easy to bloom. It might be because of the abundant fertilization before bringing it indoors. In summary, to make roses bloom more, they need plenty of sunlight and fertilizer.

Below are the roses that bloomed around the Winter Solstice of 2012, when the indoor temperature was about 5 degrees.

Below are various potted roses that bloomed in May this year.
