Chinese roses always fail to thrive
Today I will elaborate on some small knowledge of growing Chinese roses that always fail to thrive for netizens, and the editor will introduce next.
Chinese roses bloom beautifully and are liked by many people, but they are difficult to cultivate. Often, flower friends take photos of their Chinese roses for display, and they are either yellow and thin, with sparse leaves or yellow leaves falling, and the branches do not produce new buds.
In fact, when Chinese roses fail to thrive, it is often due to problems with the potting soil. It is recommended that if you have few Chinese roses, use special soil, which can make management much easier. Of course, for many large-scale Chinese rose growers, using special soil for Chinese roses would also be a significant pressure.
Like myself, I have grown many Chinese roses and always use my own soil mixture, which is relatively loose and breathable. However, many flower friends are unable to mix their own soil and often have insufficient breathability, which can make Chinese roses difficult to grow and always fail to thrive.
Actually, in such cases, you can add some breathable granular materials to the potting soil, such as ceramsite, coarse sand, perlite, pine bark, coal slag, etc.
These granular materials mostly have a porous structure, which can provide good breathability and greatly improve the breathability of the soil, reducing the probability of waterlogging and root suffocation in the potting soil.

But many flower friends have been growing Chinese roses for a long time, and it is also not the right season to change the potting soil. Therefore, adding granular materials to the potting soil is not very applicable. What should we do then? Are there any other methods?
If your Chinese roses are already planted, but the potting soil does not have enough breathability, we also have ways to increase the breathability of the potting soil.
Have you noticed that large trees planted on the side of the road often have a large water pipe sticking out of the ground near the roots? This pipe is actually quite large and can increase the oxygen exchange between the deep soil and the air, as well as be used for deep watering.
Referencing this principle, we can also make a small gas exchange device for our Chinese rose potted plants.
Find some long straws that we use for drinking water and insert one end deeply into the potting soil, leaving the other end exposed above the soil.
Before inserting the straws into the potting soil, you can make some small holes in the straws, which will enhance the effect of increasing the breathability of the potting soil.
