Is Chinese rose always a solitary branch?
This article introduces the relevant experience of planting Chinese roses that always have a solitary branch. Next, the editor of this site will introduce to everyone.
Chinese roses bloom beautifully, have a long blooming period, and rich flower shapes and colors, which are deeply loved by many flower enthusiasts. Just a few days ago, I shared more than 100 cuttings of Chinese rose seedlings in the local rose lover's group.
Chinese roses look beautiful when they bloom, but it's not easy to make them bloom in an exploded pot. So let's settle for second best; even if they don't bloom in an exploded pot, a symmetrical plant shape is fine. However, the reality is that many rose enthusiasts' Chinese roses are solitary branches. What should we do in this case? How to adjust the plant shape of Chinese roses?
First, let's understand the reason why Chinese roses have a solitary branch.
Chinese roses often appear as solitary branches because, during the breeding process, the roses develop strong suckers, and we, as rose enthusiasts, do not handle these suckers, allowing them to grow and bloom, which ultimately results in a solitary branch.
If it is an upright variety of Chinese rose, it often grows straight up, while the shrub varieties with obvious shapes are more likely to grow diagonally, with the entire branch leaning to one side.
But no matter which growth pattern, as long as there is only one long branch growing, with a monotonous plant shape, it is referred to as a solitary branch Chinese rose.
Adjustment method for solitary branch Chinese rose plant shapeFor Chinese roses that only have one branch growing, adjusting the plant shape is an urgent need for rose enthusiasts. Therefore, it is a good opportunity to adjust the plant shape during the pot change in winter.

Adjustment method for upright solitary branch Chinese rose plant shapeFor Chinese roses that grow upright, if you want the rose to produce new branches from the bottom to enrich the plant shape, you can operate according to the following method.
Method:
Take advantage of the pot change in winter, first give the Chinese rose a severe pruning. When replanting, plant the Chinese rose diagonally, so that the original upright branch becomes diagonal or horizontal, thereby breaking the apical dominance of the Chinese rose and forcing the nutrients to flow back to the bud points at the base, promoting the germination of the base bud points.
As long as the base bud points of the Chinese rose germinate, they will grow into strong new branches. After the new branches appear, you can promptly pinch the top, adjust the plant shape, and make the plant fuller.
