Talking about My Rose Cutting Method

This article provides an in-depth explanation of the knowledge related to roses, briefly discussing my rose cutting method. Let's learn about it together.

Soon it will be the season for pruning roses in autumn. What can we do with the branches that have been cut? Compost them? Dry them as firewood? Or throw them directly in the trash? No, we can turn waste into treasure by using rose cutting to turn them into small seedlings. How to do it? Let's see below:

1: Prepare a disposable transparent plastic cup, a small iron needle (about 2mm in diameter), vermiculite (coarse), myclobutanil, a bowl of clean water, a tray, a label, a pair of pruning shears, a candle, a lighter, a utility knife, and a fresh, healthy branch free from diseases and pests.

2: Burn the iron needle red and puncture holes in the side and bottom of the plastic cup (this step is crucial).

3: Cut the branches into small sections with 1-2 buds each using the pruning shears.

4: Light the candle and seal the top of the cut branches with the candle to prevent bacterial invasion and moisture loss.

5: Cut the bottom of the branches diagonally at a 45-degree angle with the utility knife.

6: Add a small spoon of myclobutanil to the clean water and stir well, then soak the cut branches in the myclobutanil solution for 3-5 minutes.

7: Put the vermiculite into the pre-punctured disposable cup and label it.

8: Take out the soaked branches and insert them into the vermiculite, pressing them down with your fingers, then place them in the tray and pour the myclobutanil solution into the cup.

9: In the following time, just keep the tray wet. Regarding rooting, it depends on the variety. Some of mine took about 20 days to root, and some took 40-50 days. So don't be impatient and keep pulling them out to check. If they have rooted, it can be seen through the transparent cup. This method is also something I practiced based on a method suggested by a friend on the forum. The success rate of this method for me is over 95%, and I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
