The Fragrant Tea Bush is an upright, deciduous shrub growing up to 2 meters tall; young branches are light brown and hairy; leaves are ovate to reniform, sepals are yellow, the sepal tube is tubular, petals are purplish-red, alternating with sepals, flowers are fragrant; berries are black or purplish-black. Flowering period is April; fruit ripening period is June to July. It enjoys sunlight, is cold-resistant, drought-resistant, thin-soil-tolerant, pruning-tolerant, but not flood-tolerant. The Fragrant Tea Bush has yellow flowers in spring that are abundant and have a strong fragrance, similar to the scent of Western flowers, hence the name Yellow Lilac, and it is a good ornamental tree. It is suitable for planting in lawns, forest edges, slopes, and corners.
