Planting and maintaining white wax
As a precious bonsai tree species, Duijie wax is favored by gardening enthusiasts for its vigorous and simple branch shape. Mastering scientific planting methods and systematic maintenance strategies is the key to cultivating high-quality white wax bonsai. This article will comprehensively analyze the secret of cultivating white wax from downhill pile treatment to daily maintenance. Select high-quality downhill piles for the core planting technology of white pex chinensis, select wild piles with a diameter of 5-8cm, developed root systems and no insect eating, and retain the main root length of more than 30cm during excavation. The best mining period is from the beginning of spring to the sting, when the tree sap begins to flow and makes it easier to survive. Scientific treatment of piles adopts a three-stage root-pruning method: ① Cut off rotten root systems ② Keep 5-7 main and lateral roots ③ Keep fine roots in length of 15cm. Apply a mixture of plant ash and carbendazim (2:1 ratio) to the incision, soak in rooting solution (recommended ABT No. 1) for 4 hours, and then dry the roots. Standardize the planting process using pottery pots (diameter 10cm larger than root width) and mixed substrates (red jade soil: leaf soil: river sand =4:3:3). During planting, the high-soil method is used to cover 2/3 of the height of the pile, pour root-fixing water and bag it to moisturize, and maintain the environmental temperature of 18-25℃. Intelligent water management for the white wax system maintenance plan keeps the soil moist (humidity 60%) during spring germination period, sprays in the morning and evening in summer to cool down, and adopts the principle of "seeing dry, seeing wet" in autumn and winter. Special reminder: Water accumulation should be avoided 3 months before new piles. During the growth period of precise nutrition supply, a nutrient solution diluted by 1000 times is applied every month, and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (concentration of 0.2%) is added to promote lignification in September. Note: Stop fertilization when the high temperature exceeds 35℃ or the low temperature is below 10℃. Light control skills Receive full sunshine in spring and autumn, block 50% light from 10:00 to 15:00 in summer, and ensure direct light for 4 hours a day in winter. Properly increasing scattered light during the green period of new buds can effectively prevent leaf tips from becoming scorched. The modeling and pruning system implements a four-season pruning method: applying buds in spring (retaining 2/3 of the new buds), picking in summer (retaining 3-4 nodes of new branches), thinning branches in autumn (removing cross branches), and trimming in winter. Aluminum wire coiling should be carried out when the branches are semi-lignified.
Through systematic cultivation and maintenance, the white wax bonsai can show the classic styling characteristics of "wrinkled, transparent, leaking and thin" in 3-5 years. It is recommended to adjust the maintenance details based on regional climate characteristics, regularly observe plant conditions, and prevent common pests and diseases such as scale insects in a timely manner, so as to cultivate high-quality white wax bonsai with collectible value.
