How to raise potted vines
Building mini orchards on urban balconies has become a new trend, and potted grapes are popular for their ornamental and practical nature. This article systematically explains the entire process of maintenance of potted grapes from pot selection to fruit hanging, so that novices can also experience the joy of a bumper harvest. The scientific ratio of the five key cultivation points for potted grapes suggests using a pottery pot with a diameter of 30-40cm, using a gold ratio of humus soil: peat soil: perlite =5:3:2, and mixing 5kg of decomposed sheep dung per cubic meter of soil as base fertilizer. Every spring, it is necessary to replace the top 5cm soil and supplement 5% bone meal to enhance calcium. The temperature gradient controls the growth period to keep it at 18-28℃, and in summer, it is necessary to shade and cool down if it exceeds 35℃. Progressive low-temperature maintenance is adopted in winter: in November, it is reduced to 10℃ to promote fallen leaves, from December to February of the following year, it is maintained at 0-5℃ to complete dormancy, and in March, it gradually rises to 15℃ to awaken the plants. The intelligent water supply plan uses a soil hygrometer to monitor, and water is poured through when the surface layer is 3cm dry. Maintain 60% humidity during flowering and fruit period, and reduce it to 50% anti-cracking fruit during fruiting period. During the winter hibernation period, 500ml of normal-temperature water is poured along the edge of the basin every 15 days to avoid freezing damage. Photoperiod management ensures 6 hours of direct light per day from April to September, and uses sunshade nets to filter the noon strong light. Full sunshine is used from October to March of the following year, combined with the plant fill light to extend the light for 2 hours per day, and germination can be achieved 7-10 days ahead of schedule. Stage precise fertilization applies nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium 15-30-15 water-soluble fertilizers during germination period, boron and zinc foliar fertilizers are added during flowering period, and high-potassium organic liquid fertilizers are used during young fruit period. Adopt the principle of "thin fertilizer and frequent application", apply 500 times diluted liquid fertilizer every 10 days during the growing season, and stop nitrogen and phosphorus and potassium increase after September to promote lignification of branches.
Mastering these five core technologies, combined with regular pruning and pest control, potted grapes can achieve an annual output of 3-5kg. It is recommended to choose dwarf varieties such as Jufeng and Xiahei, and use them with an automatic drip irrigation system to easily build a balcony vineyard.
