Propagating potted grapes in spring can yield fruit by autumn of the same year. The method involves using large vines that bear fruit, selecting strong and healthy mother vines with full buds in early spring, stripping the epidermis 2-3 centimeters below the fifth or sixth section from the top of the branch, and then using a pot with a diameter of over 30 centimeters. Insert the branch from the bottom hole of the pot until the stripped part is in the middle or upper part of the pot, then secure the pot. Fill the pot with garden soil, and make sure to water it regularly to keep the soil moist.
With this kind of interplanting, the branches rely on the mother vine for nutrients and water, and can grow branches, bloom, and bear fruit normally. The stripped part, due to the moist soil and suitable temperature, will quickly grow new roots. The potted seedlings can absorb nutrients from both their own roots and the supply from the mother vine, resulting in particularly robust growth. When the fruit matures in July to August, cut the mother vine from the bottom hole, and you will have a potted grapevine full of fruit.
This method of propagating potted grapes can also be done in May to June. By then, the current year's fruiting branches have already sprouted. For cultivation, use a closable wooden box with a drainage hole at the bottom, place the stripped part in the middle of the box, fill with soil, and the rest of the management methods are the same as before. However, the separation from the mother vine should be later, after the own root system has developed properly.
