Today's sharing: How to grow Fortune Bamboo to root quickly and related knowledge on proper care for Fortune Bamboo. Let's learn about it together below.

Many friends enjoy growing Fortune Bamboo, but have encountered many problems during the care process and don't know how to solve them. Is Fortune Bamboo easy to grow?

What are the usual care methods and things to pay attention to? How to make Fortune Bamboo root quickly? What if there are yellow leaves, is it possible to save them? I actually have over a decade of experience in growing plants and am willing to share with everyone.

First, let's learn about some basic growth habits and simple precautions of Fortune Bamboo.

Growth habits of Fortune Bamboo (Goddess Bamboo): It prefers shade, warm temperatures (easy to grow), and water, but the leaves should remain dry, avoiding low temperatures (below 10 degrees) and direct sunlight. Place it in a well-ventilated area indoors with diffused light. It starts growing at a natural temperature of 20 degrees, with the leaves changing from bottom to top, the lower base leaves slowly turning yellow (which is a good sign), naturally falling off, growing bamboo nodes, and new leaves growing on top. Pay attention to maintenance at this time.

1. After receiving the plant, peel off the yellowing leaves at the bottom, leaving no leaves above 1 cm from the bottle opening. If there are yellow edges on the leaves upon arrival, trim them with scissors.

2. Remove the excess lower leaf skin from the bamboo nodes, dead skin, and wash with water until the nodes are clean. This will make it look beautiful.

3. After cleaning, place it properly and insert it into the bottle. You will notice a different effect, with clean and tidy stems and shaped leaves. Fresh flowers and green plants usually need some simple processing to look beautiful. We send them in their original state, so they need your skillful hands to make them look even better.

4. For rooted观音竹, submerge the roots a bit more. For Fortune Bamboo, fill the bottle with water to one-third or about 4-5 cm. Check the root condition and cut the root diagonally if needed. Change the water every 3-5 days or when the water is cloudy.

After reading the above and understanding its habits, and mastering some methods, there should be no major issues.

Now I will take观音竹 as an example to show you how it roots quickly.

Step 1: Material Selection

I look for plants that are not doing well, with yellow leaves, irregular sizes, and uneven growth.

You can see in the picture that many leaves are yellow, some are rotting, and some stems are broken in the middle. In most cases, you might have thrown them away. But to me, they are good plants, just lacking our care and maintenance, and can be fully revived.

Step 2: Trimming and Cleaning

I simply peel off the yellow leaves, clean the stems, and leave about three layers of leaves at the top. I keep some yellow leaves, hoping they will naturally wither and fall off. This step is mainly about cleaning the remaining leaves to give the bamboo a good growing environment. The overall effect is good, with the upper leaves growing well.

Step 3: Disinfection and Insertion into Bottle

This step is very important. Like humans, plants are also afraid of bacterial invasion. So we use disinfectant solution (not the kind you get at the pharmacy or the rooting powder sold in the market, which I have tried and they don't work well). Dilute it with water, about 4 cm deep, and place it in the bottle for a day.

Then change to clear water and insert into the bottle. If you don't have disinfectant, you can use tap water, and if the root has a sharp knife to make a clean cut, it will also work.

I place it on the balcony where it is not exposed to direct sunlight but still warm, and it's a natural temperature. If the temperature is low, it will grow slower, but that's fine. If it's too low, you can put it indoors. Then just spray some diluted nutrient solution and wait for the roots to grow, without changing the water or adding any rooting powder.

About 15 days later, look at the roots and you will see white and yellow buds growing, and there are many of them.
