Flute Blower (Maihuenia poeppigii) is a very strange and unusual cactus plant, which was considered to be similar to the leaf cactus and麒麟掌 genus in early literature, but has been confirmed as an independent species through DNA sequencing. The plant is a small cylindrical stem, with fleshy leaves and white spines, a single branch stem can grow to about 15cm, and the whole plant is often composed of hundreds of independent stems, which can grow to a diameter of more than one meter. Leaves: The leaves are deep green, cylindrical, and close to needle-like. It does not shed leaves in winter. Flowers: Very beautiful, large and soft, smooth as silk, lemon yellow, blooms from late spring to early summer.
