The Celsianus Column plant is cylindrical in shape. The column is yellow-green or green, densely covered with 8-10 cm long white hair. Within the white hair, there are brownish-yellow, translucent strong spines, with 6-9 large needle-like radial spines; and 1 wide central spine. In spring and summer, it bears light red bell-shaped flowers at the top, with a large diameter, cross-pollinated.
This variety of Celsianus Column is not very tolerant to intense sunlight. During the growing period, water should be given when completely dry, and less water should be given to mature plants. The main method of propagation for Celsianus Column is by sowing seeds, as it rarely produces lateral buds.
