The soft-haired monkey tail is a plant of the tube flower column genus in the cactus family. Both the soft-haired and hard-haired monkey tail columns share the same Latin name, and both species are perennial, long-columnar, pendant, succulent plants. The spines are soft and relatively flexible, white in color. Their appearance resembles the tails of animals, with the soft-haired monkey tail column having slightly white fluff, long and soft, which does not prick the hands, and the plant is much thinner than the hard-haired monkey tail column. The flowers of the soft-haired monkey tail column are rose red, with slightly white edges on the petals, and they bloom easily, lasting from early summer to autumn. The flower shape is similar to that of the cactus, but the flowers of the soft-haired monkey tail column are larger and do not close at night. The soft-haired monkey tail column is cross-pollinated, and the mature fruits are hidden among the soft spines.
