The Red Peony is a perennial succulent plant. The stem is oblate spherical, with a diameter of 3-4 cm, bright red, deep red, orange red, pink, or purple red, with 8 ridges and prominent transverse ridges. Mature spherical bodies produce offsets in clusters. The areoles are small, without central spines, and the radial spines are short or shed. The flowers are slender, borne on the apical areoles, funnel-shaped, pink, and bloom in spring and summer. The fruit is slender, spindle-shaped, and red. The seeds are dark brown. Since the Red Peony needs to be grafted onto cacti like Hylocereus undulatus, the cultivation medium should be determined according to the rootstock used. The Red Peony has a bright red color, making it quite striking, and is one of the main cultivated varieties of cactus plants.
