I have also raised Guanyinlian before, and according to my maintenance experience, it can have two maintenance methods: one is the common method of having many offspring. The Guanyinlian raised in this way, as the name implies, has a lot of lateral buds, and it can be said that the children have children and the grandchildren have grandchildren, endless - in the end, it just blooms in a pot.

Under the common maintenance method, the particle ratio of the soil for Guanyinlian should not be too high, and it is recommended not to exceed 60%. Of course, in order to have a better summer, it is also recommended not to be lower than 50%. The medium for the soil can be a mixture of decayed leaves, coarse river sand, a little garden soil, and coal slag, or it can be a mixture of granules such as maifan stone, volcanic rock, and植金石 (stone) mixed with peat soil. Anyway, as long as the potting soil is loose, breathable, and has good drainage.

Usually, we give Guanyinlian sufficient sunlight, start watering when the bottom leaves become soft, and each time, water thoroughly. In the high summer temperatures, it is appropriate to provide some shade and control watering, and about once every half a month, during relatively cool periods, water a small amount along the edge of the pot. Guanyinlian is relatively cold-resistant, and as long as the temperature does not drop below 0°C in winter, it can be watered and maintained normally. When the temperature drops below 0°C, it is necessary to stop watering and keep the potting soil dry so that it can survive the winter.

The second is the unconventional method of raising old stakes. Few people play this way because it takes a long time to raise old stakes, but once Guanyinlian becomes an old stake, it is very characteristic. I have raised it before, but I killed it because I changed the pot frequently. If you want to raise Guanyinlian as an old stake, the particle ratio must be higher, except for seedlings, we can increase the particle ratio of the soil to about 80%, and at the same time, sunlight cannot be lacking, and water should also be controlled. Water only when the bottom leaves appear dry and withered (still watering thoroughly). Under the high particle controlled environment, Guanyinlian not only does not have the energy to burst lateral buds but also continuously consumes the bottom leaves, and eventually slowly turns into an old stake.

However, regardless of which maintenance method is used, except for high summer temperatures, Guanyinlian must be given sufficient sunlight, and watering should be done only when the potting soil is completely dry, otherwise, Guanyinlian will flip its leaves downwards to become a skirt-like shape.
