String Money Sedum

This is an introduction to the String Money Sedum, a type of succulent plant. Learn about the care knowledge of String Money Sedum (also known as Qian Chuan Zi), and read on!

String Money Sedum, also called Starlet or Qian Chuan Sedum, is alias贯穿越叶神刀 in Chinese. It belongs to the Sedum family, Sedum genus, and is a perennial succulent herbaceous plant. The plant grows in clusters with tiny branches, having fleshy stems that later become slightly woody. The fleshy leaves are gray-green to light green, with slightly reddish edges, which are more prominent in the cool season from late autumn to early spring under sufficient sunlight. String Money Sedum is native to South Africa, preferring a sunny and cool, dry environment. It can tolerate partial shade but dislikes waterlogging and avoids hot, humid conditions. It has the habit of growing in cool seasons and dormant in high summer temperatures, making it a "winter type" among succulent plants.

From September to the following April and May is the growing period for the plant. It should be provided with ample sunlight. Insufficient light will cause the plant to elongate, with the distance between leaves becoming longer, leading to a loose plant shape and faded red edges, making the plant look unattractive. Plants grown in sufficient sunlight are矮壮 with compact internode spacing.

During the growing period, the soil should be kept moist but avoid waterlogging, which can cause root and base rot. Apply a thin liquid fertilizer every 15 days to promote plant growth. In winter, place the plant in a sunny indoor area. If the temperature can be maintained above 10℃, continue watering and fertilize moderately to keep the plant growing. If the temperature cannot be kept that high, reduce watering to make the plant dormant, which can also tolerate a temperature of about 5℃. In the high summer temperatures, the plant grows slowly or stops completely. It should be placed in a well-ventilated area with some shading to avoid direct sunlight and stop fertilizing. Watering should be moderate, and avoid long-term rain to prevent rot.

String Money Sedum should be pruned regularly during cultivation to remove tangled branches and maintain an attractive shape. When the plant becomes too crowded, repotting can be done in spring or autumn. The pot size should be chosen according to the plant's size, as a pot that is too large or too small is not conducive to growth. Also, consider the pot's aesthetic appeal. The soil should be loose and fertile with good drainage and aeration, and can be planted with a mixture of decayed leaf soil, garden soil, coarse sand, or vermiculite.

That is all the content about the care knowledge of String Money Sedum (Qian Chuan Zi). I hope it is helpful to green plant enthusiasts!
