Many say that bonsai are delicate and difficult to care for. Pay attention to these three points to cultivate an extraordinary bonsai!

Admiring various bonsais in gardens has gained the appreciation of many enthusiasts, bringing bonsais into our homes. However, we often find that the results of our own home-grown bonsais are not ideal, far from the artistic works. This is because bonsais require careful design and maintenance after planting to showcase their full charm. It's crucial to have a deep understanding of the plant's habits and characteristics to ensure they have perfect shapes and vitality. Otherwise, one small oversight can lead to failure and turn a plant into a disappointment.

So, what should we pay attention to when caring for delicate bonsai plants? What do we need to do to successfully cultivate a bonsai?

1. Sunlight

We need to control the adaptation to sunlight appropriately. Compared to succulents, bonsais cannot be exposed to too much sunlight. Unlike succulents that look better with more sun exposure, bonsais have specific sunlight requirements. Since plants require a lot of water, the appropriate amount of light ensures that the plants have enough water to complete their vital activities.

The rate at which roots absorb water is much slower than the rate of transpiration. Therefore, we must prevent plants from being exposed to direct sunlight during planting. Overexposure can lead to slow growth or even death, especially once temperatures exceed 28 degrees Celsius. We must be careful to provide shade and avoid planting directly under the sun's rays. However, we also need to ensure that the plants receive scattered light, as most bonsai plants are not shade-loving. It's important to avoid both overexposure and excessive shade when choosing a planting environment.

2. Pruning

In the creation of bonsais, pruning is a crucial step that brings the piece to life. Without mature pruning skills, a bonsai cannot be crafted. This is an essential technique we must master. We use pruning to maintain the perfect shape of the bonsai and perform regular pruning tasks on the plants.
