Pineapple Pot Planting Method
Sharing knowledge about pineapple, a fruit vegetable, with everyone, here is the pineapple pot planting method. Let's learn about it together.
It's pineapple season again, and some gardening friends are wondering how to plant pineapples in pots. In fact, the pineapple pot planting method is very simple, and it is also possible for friends in the north to plant pineapples in pots. The main thing to note is surviving the winter. For friends with indoor heating, potting pineapples is even less of a concern. Let's look at the process images below:
The first step in potting pineapples is to select a healthy one. Since pineapples are stored for some time and some leaves may have withered, if you plan to pot a pineapple, it is important to buy one with fresh leaves, such as those with white powder still present and green leaves. To increase the success rate, you can buy one more, two, or three pineapples to pot together.
Handling the pineapple leaves is as shown in the figure below. Try to leave more of the base tissue, cut off the top bud with a knife, remove the lower bracts, and let it dry in a shaded area for 1-3 days to allow the wound to heal.
Next, you can start hydroponic rooting. Take a transparent bottle, fill it with about half water, and insert the top bud to induce roots. After about 7 days, root tips can be seen. The water level should not completely cover the roots, leaving some space for root respiration. Alternatively, you can refer to the rooting method for succulent plants, where the roots are not in contact with water at all, and the high humidity inside the bottle induces rooting.
Now it's time to pot the pineapple. There are no special requirements for the soil. Watering does not need to be too frequent; water only when the soil is dry. Make sure there is plenty of sunlight. With good management for most of the year, the plant can produce flower buds. From flowering to fruiting takes about 200 days. Friends in the north should pay attention to temperature issues because pineapples are tropical fruits. Areas with heating are fine, but friends without heating need to pay special attention to insulation.
The above is the complete content of the pineapple pot planting method. Green plant enthusiasts can refer to this for inspiration.
