Succulent Shunshang
Is there a succulent called Murakami or Shunshang?
There are tens of thousands of succulents, but I have never heard of a succulent called "Murakami." The reason some people ask this question is probably because they like to read the works of Japanese writer Murakami Haruki and then mix up the names. Although there is no "Murakami" in succulents, there is "Shunshang." It is a small succulent plant of the Sedum family, with a very mini size, and a single head is about 1-2 centimeters. In spring, it also blooms white pentagonal flowers.

The leaves of Shunshang are oblong, slightly flat on the front, convex on the back, densely covered with villi on both sides, gradually pointed at the tip, without a leaf tip, and the plant has a small rosette shape. The whole plant does not have white frost, and the leaves are usually green. Under sufficient light and large temperature differences, they will turn light yellow or light red, and there is also a smell of vanilla ice cream, which is very pleasant.

What are the characteristics of succulent Shunshang?
The main characteristics of Shunshang are threefold: first, as a small succulent variety, it does not take up much space, and we can plant it in a mini pot of a few centimeters in size. Second, Shunshang is particularly easy to form a cluster. If you feel that it's not enough to grow in a small pot, you can also plant it in a pot of 20-30 centimeters and it can easily fill the pot. Third, Shunshang is a rare fragrant succulent. After being exposed to the sun, we can smell a sweet vanilla ice cream-like scent, which is much more interesting than growing ordinary succulents.

Is Shunshang worth buying?
Whether it is worth buying a Shunshang to grow depends on two aspects. First, do you have a special liking for fragrant succulents? If the answer is yes, it is definitely worth buying Shunshang, as fragrant succulents are rare, and you should not miss them when you encounter them. Second, do you have a hobby of collecting varieties? If so, it is still worth buying a Shunshang to grow — imagine it does not take up space, and we can place it anywhere in a corner, so why not?
It doesn't matter whether Shunshang is in good condition or not
What are the details to pay attention to during the maintenance of Shunshang?
If you want to grow Shunshang, you should pay attention to the following four details during maintenance:
1. Shunshang has thin branches and underdeveloped roots, so when planting it, you should pay attention to not have too high a proportion of granular soil, about 50% is fine. At the same time, the particle size of the soil used cannot be too large, preferably around 3 millimeters, otherwise it will seriously affect the growth of Shunshang and may even cause it to be less and less, eventually being nurtured to death.
Shunshang cannot be controlled with high particle soil
2. Sufficient light is the power source for Shunshang leaves to emit fragrance, so when growing it, we must provide a maintenance environment with extremely sufficient light. However, during the summer when temperatures are particularly high, it is important to reduce the amount of light exposure and never expose it to direct sunlight without water. Otherwise, this delicate succulent will be directly sunburned to death.
