How to care for长生草: A personal perspective

Today, the editor will explain the content about the succulent plant 长生草, how to care for 长生草 from a personal perspective. Next, the editor will introduce to the netizens.

长生草 is relatively niche, not many people engage in it. But I personally like it quite a bit because it's easy to care for and requires minimal effort. Speaking of how to care for 长生草, I also suffered heavy losses when I first started. But now I've somewhat grasped the knack, so even when many experienced gardeners suffered losses this year, my losses were negligible.

1. First, the soil mixture: The soil I use for my plants has a high particle content, about 80% particles. Because of the high particle content and the fact that it's kept outdoors, I also water it in the summer and don't shade it. The color throughout the summer is better than it is now. Only one plant died. Last winter was also fine; I also watered in winter, but I usually water when the temperature is above freezing.

2. Then, mulching: My plants died a lot the previous year, and I realized it might have been due to my mulching method. I used stones for mulching the previous year. When the temperature rose, the stones became very hot and burned the plants, especially the side buds. The losses were significant.

3. Then, potting: Many people think that 长生草 must be planted in spring or autumn. But that's not necessarily true. I usually prefer to buy them at the end of summer, as the roots take hold faster in the summer. By the time it gets cold in winter, the roots have grown well, so I'm not worried about them surviving the winter. The plants I bought in August this year are now all settled and one has even started growing a side bud.

4. Lastly, about the variety of 长生草: If you just want to make a beautiful arrangement, you can buy various anonymous varieties and play around with them. You don't need to worry about the names. But if you're collecting, it's recommended to label them carefully and meticulously. Otherwise, your plants may easily become anonymous.

5. The most important thing about 长生草, I think, is pest prevention; it's prone to infestations. My plants are basically buried in soil and sprayed with various pesticides. Even so, it can't stop the pests. So, you must pay close attention to 长生草 and sprinkle some insecticide on it from time to time.

The above only represents my personal opinions and may not be applicable to all regions.
