The Baron Bold plant looks truly disgusting and is a variety that grows tall no matter how it is cared for. The stems of the Baron Bold plant are thick and sturdy, gradually elongating and growing taller with age. The leaves are densely arranged in a rosette shape, with a plant diameter that can reach over 20 centimeters. The leaves are oblong, slightly wavy, and the leaf surface has large, irregular wart-like protuberances. The leaf color ranges from light green to purplish red, with new leaves being lighter and old leaves being darker. Under strong light and large temperature differences between day and night, or during low temperatures in winter, the leaf color turns from green to purplish red, with the leaf tips and edges slightly reddening. Old leaves and the wart-like protuberances turn purplish red, while under weak light, the leaves are light green, narrow, long, and very thin.
The leaf surface of Baron Bold is covered with a fine white powder, which falls off from old leaves, leaving them smooth. During growth, the old leaves of Baron Bold tend to curl slightly downwards. The flowering period is in summer, with panicles that can reach over 20 cm in length and bell-shaped flowers. Baron Bold needs plenty of sunlight for the leaf color to be vibrant, for more wart-like protuberances, and for a tighter, more beautiful plant shape with thicker leaves. Insufficient sunlight results in light leaf color, loose leaf arrangement, and thin leaves.
Baron Bold is a medium to large-sized plant that needs to be repotted every 1-2 years depending on its growth, with the pot diameter being 1-2 inches larger than the plant diameter to promote growth. The soil must be completely dry before watering, and a slow-release fertilizer can be applied quarterly. Propagation is done through division, beheading, and leaf insertion, and can be carried out throughout the year.
