Summary of Succulents Surviving Summer

Today's focus is to introduce you to the content about succulents, specifically a summary of surviving summer with succulents. Next, let the editor introduce it.

I have only been involved with succulents for a short time, two years, and have been self-exploring how to care for them. Friends in the Fuzhou community have provided a lot of help. This summer in Fuzhou is as hot as usual, and I have summarized some experiences of surviving summer with succulents in Fuzhou. It's not that complicated, just rough care.

【Light】

Starting from the end of May, I began to shade the plants. After the beginning of autumn, the angle of sunlight will deviate, but the sun at this time is not as strong as in the middle of summer. It is sufficient to have some morning and evening oblique sunlight.

【Ventilation】

This is the core for me to survive the summer. When summer begins, I prepared two fans, planning to keep them on for 24 hours, and switch to the other one when one breaks. So far, the first fan is still going strong. You can think about it: a fan is only about 30 yuan, and it doesn't consume much electricity in a month. But losing a valuable plant is not just the cost of a few fans.

Basically, one fan can ensure ventilation in a space of two square meters, but there is a drawback, which is that the water in the pot dries up very quickly, and the succulents also consume fast. Anyway... as long as they don't die.

【Watering】

Since I need to spray pesticides and kill insects, the water for root irrigation according to the cycle should be enough. I don't water deliberately. The thing I fear most is seeing wrinkled leaves, which makes me want to water them. Everyone must hold back!

【Pest Control】

I was also surprised when I first saw the scale insects, but I gradually got used to them. I feel that the "Flower Protector" is not very effective. I've tried many pesticides for scale insects, and the small green medicine is the most effective. I saw a post from Old Li early in the morning, mentioning the toxicity of the small green medicine. I suggest that if you don't have children or pets at home and don't want to bother, you can use this, and it's quite reassuring. Basically, scale insects no longer appear, and since I live on the 23rd floor, I haven't seen any other insects.

【Fungicide】

Some plants in the corner were not well cared for and got infected with sooty mold. Using benzene-ether-methazole worked well. Timely isolation is necessary, as it can easily infect the surrounding succulents.

【Emergency for Rainstorms and Typhoons】

Usually, I have to work, and when I come back home during a typhoon, many plants have been soaked by the rain. It's troublesome to deal with each one individually, so I move all the ones that got wet to the window sill of the room and let the fan and air conditioner take care of them for a day and a night. Since it's dry in the air-conditioned room, the water on the growing points of the succulents can be effectively dried, and the soaked soil can also dry up.

This is how the summer in the south is, just like a woman's face (changeable, terrifying, unpredictable!) If you don't take care of the plants after they get soaked, they can easily rot or burst with a lot of scale insects.

The above summary about surviving summer with succulents (based on a friend's experience) is provided for everyone's reference and operation.
