Insufficient lighting will make it appear green, it does not easily grow leggy, and the growth form is relatively slow. It does not easily produce side buds; I've heard of some people who haven't produced any side buds after 3 to 4 years of care. It is mainly propagated through leaf cuttings and topping.
Personal experience: If the climate is good, it grows almost all year round with no distinct dormant period. I keep it on the balcony outdoors during winter, and I stop watering when the temperature is below 5 degrees.
