What is the white frost on succulents
The white frost that appears on succulents is a natural phenomenon. Some varieties have it on their leaves, such as Snow莲花, Fairy's Cup, Ping Pong Fuchsia, and Guanghan Palace. There are also those like Orange Dream, Ophelia, and Peach Egg with a thin layer that is easily shed. This is self-secreted and serves as a protective layer, offering many benefits. In summer, it can prevent sunburn, and in winter, it can keep the plant warm. Therefore, during maintenance, care should be taken not to wipe it off with hands, and watering should not be done directly on the leaves to prevent the white frost from falling off.
Two, Powdery Mildew
Besides the natural phenomenon, it could also be a case of powdery mildew, which is different from the natural white frost. It is a fungal disease and can be distinguished upon close observation. Initially, the leaves have white frost, and later, they may develop a moldy appearance. It is also contagious. If this occurs, it is necessary to address it promptly by cutting off the infected leaves and then spraying a fungicide for treatment. Otherwise, it could lead to the infection of other leaves, causing them to rot. Distinguishing between the two is simple; if infected, there will be uneven spots that look unattractive, and some may also have white hair on them.
