Komping Shou belongs to the Lily Family, Soft-leaf Vireya Genus, and is native to South Africa. The plant is stemless, with fleshy leaves arranged in a rosette shape, with the maximum spread reaching over 15 centimeters. The fleshy leaves are plump and full, with the upper part forming a horizontal triangle shape, leaf color ranging from dark green to blackish green, the top surface smooth, appearing translucent or semi-transparent, with irregular reticulate patterns and tiny white dots, which are the plant's window. The flowering period is spring and summer, with paniculate inflorescence, and small grayish white flowers. Pollination must be cross-pollination, and intergeneric hybrid pollination is also possible. The seeds mature to black. The flower stem is very thick, and if not pollinated, the peduncle can be cut off to avoid consuming the plant's nutrients.
