How to care for Qingfenghuang
A comprehensive introduction to the knowledge of the succulent plant Qingfenghuang, how to care for Qingfenghuang, detailed introduction for you as follows
Qingfenghuang is also known as Xuanhaiyan and is a large variety of Zichi, very similar to Zichi, with the only difference being the leaf color is green, and the plant is much larger. Qingfenghuang leaves are arranged in a small lotus-like shape, with a light powdery coating on the leaf surface. The leaves are spoon-shaped or semi-circular (the semi-circular state is when Qingfenghuang is at its best), and in autumn, the leaf disk extends upwards to form an inflorescence. After flowering, the mother plant usually dies. To prevent the plant from dying, the flower spike can be removed in the early stage of flowering.
Qingfenghuang mainly relies on basal suckers (new buds that grow from the remaining stem and roots after topping) to continue its lineage. Compared to the variegated Fenghuang and Fuji, Qingfenghuang is easier to grow lateral buds and can be propagated by topping. Watering should be done when the soil is completely dry, and no watering should be done when it's not dry.
When watering, try to water directly into the soil, as moisture on the leaves can affect their appearance and may also cause rot in the core. There is a chance that Fuji and Fenghuang may revert to their original form after clustering, with a higher chance after topping. The plant below has reverted from Fenghuang to Qingfenghuang after clustering.
