How to grow succulent plants

Do you know these? Experience in succulent plant care, how to grow succulent plants, let's find out together below.

During the process of growing succulent plants, I have gone through many difficulties, from not recognizing any succulent plants to now recognizing most of them. There have been many joys and sorrows along the way. I've said a lot of nonsense, so let me share my experience in growing succulents with everyone.

Soil: Vermiculite, Perlite, Deer Mud, Red Jade Soil, Coal Slag, Rice Hulls, Peat, Turf, Lan stone, Sand, Yellow Clay. I've used them all, and I don't feel there's much difference. The main thing is the breathability of the plant roots. I still recommend that beginners use some granular soil with particles of 1-3MM to grow, as this will not cause long-term waterlogging in the roots of succulent plants, leading to root rot or black rot. The leaves of succulent plants are very afraid of long-term dampness, so when planting, try to keep the leaves of succulent plants away from the soil surface, or place a layer of granules or sand on the top layer of the planting soil.

Fertilizer: Many people say that succulent plants do not need to be fertilized, but I am impetuous and want my plants to grow quickly. I have used many types of fertilizers, such as "urea, monopotassium phosphate, organic fertilizer, seaweed fertilizer, high-nitrogen compound fertilizer, high-potassium compound fertilizer." At the worst, my plants were almost killed by me. Overall, the fertilizer I use the most now is high-phosphorus potassium compound fertilizer, which increases the resistance of succulent plants and improves their adaptability to the environment. The fertilizer contains a small amount of nitrogen, which is sufficient for plant growth. Long-term use of high-nitrogen fertilizers can easily cause succulent plants to have a serious decline in resistance to antibiotics and diseases. Therefore, it is not recommended to use nitrogen fertilizers for a long time. I use phosphorus-potassium fertilizer about once every 14 days, with a low concentration, which does not harm the succulent plants.

Diseases: Powdery mildew, scale insects, root mealybugs, these three diseases are the most common in succulent plants. Let's talk about powdery mildew first. I almost always use medicine to treat this disease, like carbendazim, metalaxyl, and mancozeb alternately, once every 7-10 days, about 3 times to recover. For scale insects and root mealybugs, there is no other choice but to use pymetrozine or cypermethrin, no explanation needed.

Watering: For beginners, it is recommended to water when the soil is dry. I water my plants once every two weeks and give a small spray once a week. The depth of the water in the pot is half the height of the pot, and take it out after about 5 seconds.

The above is a summary of the experience and knowledge of growing succulent plants by flower friends. I hope this article can bring you some help!
